Beautifully hand carved in the Brienz tradition, this Swiss Black Forest bear stands in a natural walking pose with an open mouth, finely detailed fur and traditional glass eyes. The original hand carved Walking Bear dates to the turn of the 20th century circa 1910. Black Forest Black Forest carvings come with the common misconception that they are from Germany when they actually come from Switzerland. Originally named Brienzerware because of where it originated, the carvings became a type of grand tour souvenir and tourists would pick them up on their travels around Switzerland.
